Our Goal is to Have Fun and Learn

This is our second shoot at the Little Goose Ranch and the Little Goose Long Range organizers have tweaked the format a bit to keep more shooters on the line. We’re *still* relatively new to this running this event, but the goal this year is to work out a course of fire that get shooters on the line. We had some great input from our friend in Army Marksmanship Training to help us with the new course of fire this year!!

5 Targets From 800 to 2100+ yards

Test your skill or just come to learn.

Our targets are spread out across a canyon from the firing line. The closest is right around 800 yards and we can shoot all the way out to about 2200 yards. Weather and ranch operations make a difference in where can can put the targets — we try to post pictures on this site before the event.

Targets are approximately 2MOA in size.

Date: May 24, 2025

We don’t have a rain-out date selected, so this is it.

The entrance road crosses the firing lane, so all shooters must be On Site for a 7:30am rules briefing. Access will be closed once shooting commences.

Cost: $75

The fee covers the day. Proceeds will be used to cover expenses and seed the future development of this venue.

Mission: Hits!

Our goal is for you to record hits on the steel. Any caliber up to .338 and max speed of 3250fps. Shoot from the prone position with a bipod or shoot from a bench.

We are planning on having a practice target available to verify zero.

Little Goose 2025 Course of Fire

There will be 5 (five) firing positions on the firing line labeled from left to right, A through E.

Shooters will be assigned a shooter number based on a random draw after sign in.

Shooters will shoot in order from shooter 1 (one) until the order is exhausted. In this way shooters 1 through 5 will be will be positioned on the line at the start.

Once shooter 1 completes the course of fire they will vacate the firing position and the next shooter (ie. shooter 6) will assume position A on the line. Shooter 2 will begin firing immediately after shooter one.

In the event a shooter does not make their designated order they will be moved to the end of the list and shoot last.

Success

You can share a rifle with another shooter, but you won’t be shooting consecutively. The Scorekeeper will call your hits, you can have a spotter to call your shots.
